Reducing Stress through Exercise

We can’t avoid stress it just happens. If you are stressed out it’s hard to think past your stress to figure out what to do about it.  When you are in your midlife, stress takes a bigger toll on your body.  You don’t bounce back as easily.  Coming home from work, sitting on the couch and finding a snack or the TV can actually make matters worse.

The best thing to do when you are stressed is to find an outlet for it.  Exercise of any type is an excellent outlet to relieving the stress and anxiety you feel when you are in the situation.  Find something you enjoy and do it.

Take a walk or hit the gym.  Riding a bike can make you feel like a kid again. Find a pleasant place to exercise if possible; this will help your mind and body. Sometimes engaging a friend or loved one in your adventure can help make it more fun and not seem like exercise.  Exercise can increase endorphins which makes you feel better right away.  Continued exercise will benefit you long term giving you more energy.
